Preferment has been ruled out of the Emirates Stakes with the Chris Waller-trained horse struggling with an eye injury.

The four-time Group One winner was treated with antibiotics with his trainer believing he was hit by a clod during his last start in the Caulfield Cup.

With the Emirates Stakes looming at Flemington on Saturday, Preferment was taken off the treatment but Waller said the eye had again become sore.
