Punters with online bookmaker sportsbet are rallying behind Second Effort in his quest for back-to-back P.B. Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield this Saturday.

Seven-year-old Second Effort, won the race last year when it was called the J.J. Liston Stakes, is the best backed runner, firming from $6.50 into $4.60, behind favourite Puissance De Lune ($2.00).
Puissance De Lune, the $7.00 Melbourne Cup favourite with sportsbet.com.au, had drifted out to $2.25 prior to today’s barrier draw after Second Effort had received twice the punter backing.
“It’s not surprising the money has come for Second Effort, he was impressive winning the Bletchingly Stakes last month and has a fitness edge on most of the field. Puissance De Lune is embarking on a Cup campaign and will not be wound-up yet,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
High Esteem is on the third line of betting at $8.50 along with Darley runner Launay, who was the third best supported runner pre-barrier draw.
Sportsbet.com.au will refund punters their bet on the Lawrence Stakes if their horse runs second to Puissance De Lune.
