Young Australian jockey Chad Schofield has been given a licence to ride in Hong Kong for the first five months of the new season.
Schofield, who will experience one of his biggest moments in racing when he rides Criterion in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, will begin his contract on September 6.
He will join fellow Australians Zac Purton, Brett Prebble and Nash Rawiller in Hong Kong which is regarded as one of the toughest racing arenas in the world.
Gerald Mosse, winner of the 2010 Melbourne Cup on Americain, did not reapply for a licence while fellow Frenchman Olivier Doleuze is taking a six-month break from riding because of an ongoing shoulder injury.
