Abell Stakes 2025 or Australian Guineas for WA galloper London’s Image

After a grueling six-month campaign, it was expected that London’s Image would head for a well-earned spell following her gallant second in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy. However, trainer Ryan Hill has opted to push forward with the in-form filly, believing she has more to give.

“The plan was to send her to the paddock, but she’s just doing too well,” Hill said. “She flew to Melbourne on Thursday, and we have a couple of options for her this weekend.”

London’s Image has been a model of consistency since breaking through at Bunbury in September. Her front-running style and determination have earned her a growing fan base, highlighted by stakes performances in the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m), Placid Ark Stakes (1200m), and Lee Steere Classic (1400m). She added another Listed win in the Breeders’ Classic before her close defeat in the Magic Millions.

The build-up to that race was dramatic, with regular rider Brad Parnham ruled out after a fall earlier in the day. London’s Image, known for shifting under pressure, was collared late by Smooth Chino in a heartbreaking finish.

“She lost no admirers,” Hill said. “Brad’s injury was unfortunate, and she also drew a tough gate.”

Parnham, fresh from a Pinjarra Classic win aboard Snowdome, is keen to reunite with the filly in Melbourne.

“She’s nominated for a couple of races, and I’d love to ride her,” Parnham said. “I was devastated to miss out last time, so hopefully, things line up.”

London’s Image holds nominations for the Listed Abell Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday and the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
