Nordic Empire to Magic Millions Classic 2014 via Canterbury

Caulfield winner Nordic Empire has figured in a change of plans en route to the Magic Millions Classic.

Nordic Empire will race next at Canterbury on December 28 instead of the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions on December 19.

The colt is having a break at BC3 Thoroughbreds’ Grace Park property for seven to 10 days before getting ready for his interstate races.

“He’ll run two weeks before the Magic Millions in a Canterbury 1200-metre race on the way to the Magic Millions,” trainer Mick Price said.

“We’ll break the trip (to the Gold Coast) up for him.”

The Canterbury event will give the colt valuable experience racing in the clockwise direction for the first time.

“He has had practice the reverse way at Caulfield which he seems to handle well,” Price said.

Nordic Empire’s stablemate Geromayo, runner-up to Sheer Style in the clockwise race at Ballarat last month, is heading north for the Wyong Magic Millions.
