News:
Golden Slipper placegetter Tulip will represent Coolmore in The Everest, giving Lindsay Park three runners in the $10 million race.
The Lindsay Park team also has Redkirk Warrior and Vega Magic in the Everest representing slot-holders Star Entertainment Group and Max Whitby respectively.
Coolmore opted not to bring three-year-old sprinter Caravaggio from Ireland but is a part-owner of Tulip, a daughter of its stallion Pierro.
Senior trainer David Hayes said it was a great result for the stable to have three representatives in the 1200m Everest at Randwick on October 14.
They (Coolmore) thought she was as good an option as what was available,” Hayes said.
“She can work with Group One horses if you sprint her and they got a bit of heart out of the Golden Slipper form showing up.
“She loomed up in the Slipper (when third to She Will Reign) but didn’t quite get there.
“She’ll be a long shot in the race but I bet she beats more than what beats her.”
Hayes said they were still looking for a jockey to ride the filly at 51kg.
The other fillies in the race, She Will Reign and Houtzen, will be ridden by Corey Brown and Jeff Lloyd respectively.
Regan Bayliss will ride Newmarket Handicap winner Redkirk Warrior with Craig Williams aboard Vega Magic.
The 12-horse field was completed on Sunday when Damion Flower chose Saturday’s Group Two Premiere Stakes third placegetter Clearly Innocent to fill his slot over the winner In Her Time.
The winner of the Group One Kingston Smith Cup during the Brisbane winter carnival, Clearly Innocent will be ridden by Hugh Bowman.
She Will Reign, winner of the Group One Moir Stakes on her return on Friday night, has assumed $4.60 favouritism over Chautauqua who finished sixth in the Premiere and is now at $6.
