Money comes for Overreach to win Golden Slipper 2013

The Gai Waterhouse trained Overreach immediately attracted a number of five figure bets at Sportingbet Australia to win this Saturday’s Golden Slipper at Rosehill after drawing favourably in barrier 1.

Overreach is a clear-cut $2.30 favourite with Sportingbet ahead of Sidestep at $11.

“The phone started ringing as soon as she got the number 1 marble,” Sportingbet CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“We took a $25,000 bet on Overreach before the barrier draw had even finished.”

“This is probably just the tip of the iceberg and I’m fully expecting the big punters to step in with some six figure bets on Overreach in the coming days,” Sullivan said.

Overreach’s two closest rivals prior to the barrier draw, Ruud Awakening and Villa Verde, both drifted after drawing outside barriers.

Only Sidestep ($13 into $11), Sweet Idea ($16 into $15) and Romantic Moon ($34 into $31) firmed in betting. Criterion is a solid equal 3rd pick at $12.
