Moment Of Change takes out Orr Stakes 2014

Moment Of Change ended a run of outs with an all-the-way win in the CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Giving trainer Peter Moody and jockey Luke Nolen their fourth success in the past five editions of the famous weight-for-age race, Moment Of Change held on to beat Sydney colt Eurozone by a short half-head.

Moment Of Change, Luke Nolen

Moment Of Change had been out of the major money since his win in the 2012 Group One Rupert Clarke Stakes.

But he posted four elite-level placings last year and Moody was certain he found the right race on Saturday.

“He’s been a fraction behind all prep but we were confident he was forward enough for today,” Moody said.

The victory also provided a change of fortune for Moody and jockey Luke Nolen, the trainer and jockey combination who achieved racing fame with unbeaten racemare Black Caviar.

“It’s been a frustrating 12 months but there hasn’t been a lot of disappointment because we didn’t have that much expectation,” Moody said.

Eurozone charge late to make the result interesting while Cox Plate winner Shamus Award ran out of condition before taking the minor placing.
