News:

Dublin Lass has earned herself a busy racing summer racing schedule with victory at Rosehill.

The punters favourite at $2.50, the five-year-old won Saturday’s Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) by half a length, a margin that took co-trainer Peter Snowden by surprise.

“She put herself in the race really quickly,” Snowden said.

“I didn’t expect it to be that close actually.”

Freeze The Charges ($20) did a good job to take second after leading for most of the race with Howmuchdoyouloveme ($5.50) running on for third, another three-quarters of a length away.

The win has confirmed plans for Dublin Lass who will race every fortnight for the next six weeks.

“I was really pleased I was given a horse of this calibre,” Snowden said of the former John O’Shea-trained mare.

“Mares that are in good form, they’re pretty hard to beat.

“There are plenty of options for her and I won’t be surprised if she wins another few.”

Winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy said it was a tricky race but the mare was well prepared.

“Peter and Paul just said to save it for that last furlong and a bit,” he said.

“So I suppose I was stuck between a rock and hard place of getting in the clear and getting out a little bit earlier than normal, and then not letting her off the bridle too soon.
