Flemington-based trainer Mike Moroney has been charged by stewards after one of his trained horses returned a positive test to a prohibited substance.
The Moroney-trained Equestria tested positive to the anti-inflammatory drug Dexamethasone following his win in a benchmark 64 class race at Bendigo on March 6.
The post-race urine sample taken from Equestria was found to be above the threshold (0.2ng/mL in urine) for Dexamethasone.
Moroney, first informed of the irregularity on May 4, will face the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board at a date to be fixed.
Warrnambool trainer Symon Wilde was handed a $15,000 fine for a similar charge relating to Dexamethasone last year.
