Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance visits Sydney’s CBD

Melbourne Cup winning horse Prince of Penzance has been ridden through Sydney’s Martin Place by television presenter Rachael Finch as part of a national tour of the world famous trophy.

The trophy tour is part of the launch of Victoria’s 2017 Spring Carnival with race organisers announcing that this year’s Melbourne Cup will be broadcast live for the first time on the big screen at Sydney’s waterfront precinct Barangaroo.

Finch and Flemington ambassador Georgia Connolly both took to horseback in the busy pedestrian mall on Tuesday morning while two-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey John Letts walked alongside them as the iconic trophy was shown to the gathered crowd.

Prince of Penzance won the Cup in 2015 when Michelle Payne became the first female jockey to win the famous race.
