Peter and Paul Snowden have celebrated their first Group One victory as a father-and-son training partnership with Shooting To Win taking out the Caulfield Guineas.

In a desperate home-straight battle with the favourite Rich Enuff, Shooting To Win asserted his authority from the 100m to claim the $1 million race.

The victory comes five months after Peter Snowden left his job as head trainer for Darley to go into business with his son.

They have a string of horses at Randwick with Shooting To Win one of their early stars after the colt was transferred from John O’Shea when he took Snowden’s job at Darley.

“We really trusted his ability and he shone through today, thank God,” Paul Snowden said.

Shooting To Win ($7.50) was positioned midfield by James McDonald and he was one of the first to set out after Rich Enuff, the $1.80 favourite who crossed from a deep barrier to lead.

Rich Enuff tried desperately to hold on but with the better run, Shooting To Win was able to edge clear.

Wandjina ($101) took the minor placing, just in front of Godolphin colt Kumaon.

Rich Enuff’s trainer Ken Keys said his colt lost no admirers in defeat.

“He ran super, he had no peace,” Keys said.
