Punters have declared tomorrow night’s million dollar Sportingbet Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley a one-horse race, with favourite Samaready heavily backed at Sportingbet Australia.
A $3.20 favourite at the start of the week, Samaready has been backed from $2.80 into $2.65 in the last 48 hours.
“She has been smashed by punters. It’s great race with plenty of top sprinters but Samaready is the only one they want,” Sportingbet’s Michael Felgate said.
“No doubt she’s the one to beat, but if the rain keeps coming she could be vulnerable. The only time she has missed a place was on a wet track.”
Hong Kong champion Lucky Nine has been ignored by punters so far, easing from $5 out to $6.
“He thrashed Bel Sprinter in Hong Kong last start and is a proven world class sprinter but the punters don’t want anything to do with him tomorrow night,” Felgate said.
Buffering, who chased home Samaready in the Moir Stakes, has been kept safe by punters on the third line of betting at $7.50
