Michael Kent Jr does not think there is a lot between Suduko and Set The Sails ahead of their city debuts at Caulfield.
The market would suggest the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr stable will kick off the Caulfield meeting on Saturday with a winner.
Price and Kent Jr have Suduko and Set The Sails engaged in the Happy 50th Leanne Napper (1200m) with the junior partner of the pair expecting them to be highly competitive.
“There’s not much between them at trackwork and I’m happy to say they’re going in to the race physically well,” Kent Jr said.
While Kent Jr may not be able to split the pair, TAB has Set The Sails as their $2.20 favourite with Suduko second pick at $4.20.
Kent Jr has still not got over Set The Sails debut defeat at Geelong on May 14.
“Don’t let me watch it again,” Kent Jr said.
“Visually he was extremely impressive in his last 400 metres and I believe his sectionals match up.
“He’s a full-brother to Ready Set Sail who was also bred and raced by the Frost family and won a Group 3 at her second start.
“I would like to think that this horse can get to that sort of level.
“He’s got a very good turn of foot and for a colt, he’s not that heavy, he’s athletic and he’s got a good mind on him.”
While Set The Sails was a tragedy beaten, Kent Jr said Suduko went about his work in good fashion when successful on debut at Ballarat on May 9.
“He was wide much of the trip but he’s got a good head carriage and he flattened out beautifully,” Kent Jr said.
“He’s a good-looking son of Rubick but he’s still got a leggy frame and has plenty to furnish in to, but we can’t fault the way he has trained on.
“He’s a very good winning chance.”
