Apprentice Jack Martin will spend the night in hospital following a race fall at Ballarat.
Martin was injured when his mount Ocean Magic fell near the 250m mark in the opening race at Ballarat on Tuesday and was transported to the local hospital complaining of ankle and shoulder soreness.
Scans have cleared the rider of any breaks but he has soft tissue damage and will remain in hospital overnight for further observation.
Racing Victoria stewards reported Ocean Magic escaped injury in the incident.
