Libs want Black Caviar to come to SA

The South Australian opposition has got behind the push to bring Black Caviar to Adelaide to race.

Adelaide is vying with Brisbane and Melbourne racing clubs to be the venue for the champion mare’s tilt at a 20th consecutive victory.

The race is expected to be Black Caviar’s last in Australia before she embarks on an international campaign.

Opposition racing spokesman Dan van Holst Pellekaan says he has contacted the South Australian Jockey Club and Thoroughbred Racing SA to offer his support for their efforts to bring Black Caviar to Adelaide.

“If Black Caviar raced in Adelaide, it would be one of the biggest racing events in South Australia’s history and would be a big bonus for the state,” he says.

Mr van Holst Pellekaan says the state government should also reveal what help it has offered to pull off the racing coup.
