The Lindsay Park training partnership of Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes will come to an end with their final runner at Bendigo on Sunday.

From Monday, Hayes’ younger JD joins the Ben in a training partnership where they will hope to hit the ground running with five runners at Wangaratta.

JD was granted his trainers’ licence by Racing Victoria during the week paving the way for an earlier than expected start to their training partnership.

With the Hayes brothers taking over at Lindsay Park, Dabernig will branch out on his own and has elected to set up a stable at Warrnambool.

Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive Tom O’Connor says it is a great coup for the club to get Dabernig to the seaside town.

“It’s fantastic to have Tom and Cassi Dabernig picking Warrnambool as the place to go out on their own and start their racing business,” O’Connor said.

“Their relocation will be a great fit and will complement the existing trainers base at Warrnambool.

“It sets the Warrnambool training complex up for a bright future and challenges the club to continue to invest in its training facilities.”

Dabernig is expected to be in Warrnambool early next month and is working closely with the WRC on the set-up of a purpose-built training complex at the course.

Also on the move is Ciaron Maher and David Eustace who will close their Caulfield stable.

They are hoping to move into a 40-horse complex at Cranbourne by the end of September while the remainder of their horses will relocate to their stables at Ballarat.

“While we will be sad to leave Caulfield, we will have access to world-class facilities at both Cranbourne and Ballarat and are very excited about the move that will herald the next chapter of Ciaron Maher Racing,” Maher said.
