Race 1 – 12:10pm AEDT – IVE > Print Handicap (1000m)
Tricky start to the day with not a lot of exposed form on offer.
Hell Hound won well on debut at Terang a couple of weeks ago and looks like she can go on with it now.
Beau Mertens sticks aboard the Hellbent filly and the pair map to get a nice run on-speed from barrier 5. Her sectionals on debut were sensational and she should prove tough to hold out here if the tempo is to her liking.

Race 2 – 12:45pm AEDT – Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap (2400m)
Taking a bit of a flyer on Harmysian here in the second race of the day.
The son of Lope de Vega doesn’t win out of turn, but he did run second to Rousseau two runs back at Mornington with a good gap back to Agnelli, who has since gone on to run another place in the Vobis Gold Heath at Caulfield last week.
Clayton Douglas’ five-year-old has a win on the board over this trip and if he can save some of his best for late on this occasion, he’ll be in the finish.

Race 3 – 1:20pm AEDT – Ladbrokes It! Handicap (1300m)
Hard to go past the super consistent Jucconi in his third run back.
The McEvoy-trained four-year-old is four weeks between runs since winning a BM64 at The Valley, his third win from four starts to date.
He’s got an awkward gate to contend with but that was the case last time out where he went on to win well in the end. His fresh record checks out, and providing he handles some sting out of the track, he should be winning again.

Race 4 – 1:55pm AEDT – Ladbrokes Split Multis Handicap (1300m)
I’ve got some time for Saigon in her return from a freshen-up.
Chris Waller’s mare ran well without winning during the summer, most notably finishing just over a length third to Arctic Thunder at Rosehill over 1500m.
Her run in a mares race a month later wasn’t bad and she’s got the runs on the board fresh, and on soft tracks to suggest she can measure up here.

Race 5 – 2:30pm AEDT – Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap (1300m)
Jayanthi won her maiden at Ballarat last start by 1.5L and this looks the next logical step for her up to BM70 grade.
The Hinchinbrook filly has raced on rain-affected tracks in both starts so far, meaning she’ll appreciate some sting out of the ground with the in-form Jye McNeil steering for the first time.
She maps to find the box-seat and out of the leading Maher and Eustace stable, this is a nice price all things considered.

Race 6 – 3:10pm AEDT – Behind the Barriers “Boxing Challenge” (1000m)
This does look a nice race for Zorro’s Dream to make amends.
The Toronado gelding won over 1100m at Morphettville three runs back before running a narrow second in the Gold Comet at Flemington.
He finished down the straight at Bendigo in a BM84 last time out, but that was a total forgive run from the barrier after settling too far back.
His wet-track form stacks up nicely and I think the drop back to 1000m should suit at this stage of his prep.

Race 7 – 3:50pm AEDT – The Importer Handicap (1600m)
Flash Feeling is a promising type out of the John Sadler yard that is well-deserving of a win here.
The lightly-raced three-year-old claimed his maiden narrowly at Pakenham two runs back and has since gone on to run a place in back-to-back starts over the mile.
He’s drawn to get the rails run under Matthew Cartwright and he only needs to hold that form to be a threat.

Race 8 – 4:20pm AEDT – Ladbrokes Anniversary Vase (1400m)
Buffalo River has been a frustrating horse to follow at times, but there’s no denying his fresh record.
The Michael Moroney stable has been flying of late, and they can add to their record with this talented six-year-old that won the Group 3 Moonga Stake at Caulfield during the spring before wrapping things up in a luckless run on a heavy 10 in the Cranbourne Cup.
His jump-outs have looked promising ahead of his return and this looks a nice race for him to kick things off.

Race 9 – 4:55pm AEDT – Thoroughbred Club Handicap (1600m)
Tough race to end the day, but it does look a winnable one for Eagles Crag.
Barrier 15 is the big knock, but he’s been a consistent customer throughout his short career winning three of his six starts – all of which have come over the mile.
Archie Alexander’s team have tinkered with his gear a little and his recent jump-outs suggest he’s in great order.
