Knightsbridge impresses on debut Magic Millions Classic 2026 next

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott are poised to further strengthen their hand for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic after Knightsbridge delivered an authoritative debut win at Randwick.

The $750,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase justified his price tag when the Farnan colt ($3.20 favourite) surged past early leader Thyme To Go ($3.80) to score by a length in the Kia Ora Yearlings @ MMGC Plate (1000m), with Bjorn Baker’s Profitable ($3.50) finishing half-a-length away third.

Having gone to the races off two trials, Knightsbridge now looks set to head north for the $3 million Gold Coast feature on January 17.

“He came into this with improvement still to come,” Bott said. “We were happy to leave a bit up our sleeve knowing he would take benefit from stepping out over further.”

The son of Farnan impressed with his professionalism under pressure, finishing the race strongly despite the early speed.

“He’s got a great temperament and nothing seems to faze him,” jockey Adam Hyeronimus said.

“I was keen not to get stuck following Final Gift, but in the end that horse actually helped us by keeping the tempo genuine. This colt was always going to be strong late.”

Hyeronimus added that Knightsbridge would only improve once stretched out in trip and exposed to stronger race pressure.

Knightsbridge is a half-brother to Semana, who found her best form over 1400m and beyond, suggesting further upside as the distances increase.

Early markets have Knightsbridge quoted around $15 with leading Australian betting sites for the Magic Millions Classic.
