Kingsford Smith Cup at Eagle Farm Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 27/5/2023

The Kingsford Smith Cup is one of the best contests north of the border every year, and we are set for another stunning edition of the Group 1 feature race at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Its certainly my favourite race in Brisbane, and that was solidified last year when I backed the Kingsford Smith Cup trifecta!

I’ve had another crack at it, and you can find my complete 2023 Kingsford Smith Cup Tips below.

Suggested Bets

  • 3 Units E/W #2 A Case Of You

Kingsford Smith Cup – Winner

He was very, very impressive in the final throws of the Doomben 10,000 a fortnight ago, and I think that A Case Of You can record a maiden Group 1 victory in the Kingsford Smith Cup.

The Hot Streak entire is a Group 1 winner in France, and he has improved noticeably with each of his three starts since arriving in Australia.

He steps out this week in peak order, the rise in trips looks as though it will suit, and he’s drawn a peach under Mark Zahra.

Suggested Bet: No. 2 A Case Of You

Kingsford Smith Cup – 2nd

I thought that King Of Sparta was excellent through the line in the Victory Stakes last time out, and he too looks a bit of value in Kingsford Smith Stakes betting.

The I Am Invincible gelding has been a great horse for Team Snowden in every preparation that he has had, and he was excellent north of the border in summer, winning the Falvelon Quality and the Magic Millions Sprint in succession.

I like that he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since his last appearance and he does look up to winning something of this quality.

Suggested Bet: No. 7 King Of Sparta

Kingsford Smith Cup – 3rd

Yeah, I guess?

I personally wouldn’t have had Think About It as favourite in Kingsford Smith Cup betting; it’s clearly the hardest race that he has contested to date and a big rise in class, but I do get it.

The So You Think gelding has recorded seven wins from his eight career starts to date, placing on the other occasions, and he returned this time with a half-length win in the Takeover Target Stakes.

His second up record is faultless, and he might come out and make me look silly, but I think he’ll just find a couple of these rivals too classy at this point of his career.

Suggested Bet: No. 11 Think About It

Kingsford Smith Cup – 4th

I like that James Cummings elected to bypass the Doomben 10,000 with Paulele, and the $13 about him in Kingsford Smith Cup betting could prove overs as well.

The Dawn Approach entire is a Group 1 winner (Winterbottom Stakes) and will retire to stud after this campaign, and this is a race that he was unlucky not to win last year.

If he hadn’t drawn the carpark, I’d have been a lot more confident, but I think that his class will still see him into the finish on Saturday regardless.

Suggested Bet: No. 3 Paulele
