Racing News:

Global Glamour will be out to keep her perfect record in Group One races intact when she chases her third elite-level win for the season in the Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly landed the Flight Stakes-Thousand Guineas double last spring in her only starts at Group One level.

After holding on for an all-the-way win in the Group Two Light Fingers Stakes two starts ago at Randwick last month, Global Glamour led the field in the Group Two Surround Stakes (1400m) on a heavy Randwick track when third behind New Zealand filly La Bella Diosa and the fast-finishing Omei Sword.

Omei Sword is favourite to claim her first Group One win in Saturday’s Coolmore (1500m) for fillies and mares and has the outside barrier in the field of 19.

Global Glamour, a winner of four of her nine starts, has barrier 16 and Bott says the filly is in great order.

Global Glamour has the chance to give Waterhouse a Coolmore Classic win to equal the record of the late Max Lees.

“She came out of that last-start run in great order,” Bott said.

“The run didn’t look to take any toll on her whatsoever even though it was another tough run.

“I don’t think the heavy conditions were fully to her liking but to her credit she stuck on well and toughed it out.”

Bott said they decided against backing the filly up seven days after the Surround in the Group One Randwick Guineas.

“There was thought given to backing her up in the Guineas but I think the prospect of another heavy track, which it turned out to be, would have been quite taxing and probably not to her advantage,” he said.

“So we just spaced her runs and reverted to the original plan of going to the Coolmore and she’s done everything right going into the race.”

Kerrin McEvoy, whose only ride on Global Glamour netted victory in the Thousand Guineas, will be reunited with the filly.

“Hopefully he’s able to steer her back into the winner’s stall on Saturday,” Bott said.

Global Glamour is at $8.50 with Mad Bookie behind Omei Sword ($3.50) and the Ron Quinton-trained Dixie Blossoms ($7).

Quinton won the Coolmore Classic twice as a jockey and has also won it twice as a trainer including with Peeping last year.
