Jolly runner won’t line-up in 2016 Chester Manifold Stakes Field

Adelaide trainer Richard Jolly has decided against a trip to Melbourne for three horses this weekend including in-form Enduro.

Enduro, winner of three in a row in Adelaide this campaign, was nominated for Saturday’s Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) at Flemington but will remain home to run over 1200m at Morphettville.

Kushadasi will line up in Sunday’s Strathalbyn Cup in preference to a strong 2000m race in Melbourne while three-year-old Heartz Ablaze will also run at Morphettville.

“The races looked a bit tough and I just thought they were probably better suited here (in South Australia),” Jolly said.

Jolly said the fact there was a suitable 1200m race in Adelaide swayed him to keep Enduro there instead of stepping up to stakes grade in Melbourne.

“I just wanted to have a look at the race and if there wasn’t an option here I probably would have rolled the dice and sent him, but we’ve got an option here,” he said.

“We weighed it up and thought it was better to concentrate on here with him.”

Jolly said the Strathalbyn Cup was a better option for 2014 South Australian Derby winner Kushadasi than taking on the likes of Signoff at Flemington.

The Darren Weir-trained Signoff, first-up winner of the Listed Lord Stakes on Boxing Day, headlines nominations for Saturday’s 2000m handicap at Flemington.

Lidari, runner-up to his stablemate in the Lord Stakes, is also nominated for the 2000m race.

The Chester Manifold Stakes has 15 nominations.
