Jenny Duggan is recovering from multiple injuries

Jockey Jenny Duggan is recovering from multiple injuries after she was one of two riders involved in a serious race fall that marred the Scone Cup meeting.

Duggan was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital following her fall from Steamboat Sally in the final race at the Scone Cup meeting on Friday.

Racing NSW confirmed Duggan had suffered small fracture to the base of her skull but the injury can be managed with a neck brace.

She also had a brain scan overnight on Friday which showed a small bruise but no major damage while all other X-rays were clear.

“I’m feeling very lucky on be writing this … so far I have a fracture in the bottom of my scull, some bleeding on my brain, broken nose, concussion,” Duggan posted on Facebook.

“We are still working out what is happening with my shoulder.”

Decorated jockey Robert Thompson was also involved in the fall but the 62-year-old walked away unharmed.
