Japanese horse out of The Championships 2016

The Japanese contingent for the Sydney autumn carnival has been reduced to three with Tosen Reve to stay at home.

The horse finished a disappointing ninth in Sunday’s Group Two Kyoto Kinen (2200m) and trainer Yasutoshi Ikee told Racing NSW he would not travel to Australia.

Tosen Reve won two Listed races late last year with leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman aboard but was unplaced in the December Stakes before Sunday’s race.

His stablemate Tosen Stardom, second in the 2015 Ranvet Stakes, is still scheduled to return to Sydney.

The other Japanese entries for The Championships are 2000 Guineas winner Isla Bonita and dual Group One winner Logotype.
