Saturday’s feature race meeting will be held at Ipswich racecourse with the feature race being the Ipswich Cup. Despite the Ipswich Cup being the main race there are also other feature races including the Gai Waterhouse Stakes and the Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes all of which are at Listed level.

Race One: X X X X Gold Grange Plate 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Dalton contested some very good races in Victoria earlier in the season and has been given time to mature since then. Looked a smart type and this looks a winnable race for him.
Don’t Back Me: Agitate contested a good quality race last start at Doomben when running fifth although he has drawn barrier 16 here and with the top weight it will be hard to win.
Big Danger: Nude Secrets ran well in two quality races before winning impressively last start. Likes to run on speed which is an advantage here and looks the biggest danger in the race.
Roughie: Tisani Tomso despite winning at Toowoomba was super impressive at that outing. Likely to lead the field which is an advantage in these big two year old fields and should be there at the finish.

Race Two: Optus Ipswich Mile (bm85) 1666m Form Guide
Back Me: What Happendhenry’s last run was impressive settling in back of the field and coming 7 wide to finish under 2 lengths from the winner in wet conditions.
Back ontop of the ground will help his chances on Saturday and has won twice from 3 tries at Ipswish. Although he hasn’t won at the distance, expect him to be amongst the finish.
Don’t Back Me: Flying Home was beaten as an odds on shot last start at the Gold Coast in which he had every chance of winning. This is a tougher task and i can’t see him winning on Saturday.
Big Danger: Requirement should be amongst the first few in running. He has been racing well in rain affect ground in similar class, but has always been there abouts. Down in weight and up in distance should see an improved run.
Roughie: Blow A Kiss loves the distance and has shown to enjoy the heavy going placing second at his only time in the wet. In a race that there isn’t much value he looks the best long shot.

Race Three: Ray White Ipswich Dash (c6) 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Nuptse is well weighted here and drawn to go back in the field. Expect her to be wide approaching the turn and roaring down the outside to win. Chris Munce jumping on board will help her chances.
Don’t Back Me: Alcancia has been racing well in the wet and over 1400m. Back to 1100m here and if the conditions dry up it will harm her chances. She will be in the market but won’t be winning Saturday.
Big Danger: Cape Kidnappers is first up from a 14 month break and has won 4 out of its 5 races. Has a good first up record (3:2,1,0) If he jumps well he will go forward and put some speed into the race. Having won twice over the distance he is a big danger to win this.
Roughie: Bymonashee has been unlucky in his last two runs being either held up or posted wide.
From barrier 12 it will be interesting to see there tactics. If Bymonashee goes forward expect him to be hanging around at the finish.

Race Four: Queensland Times Prov. Cup 2150m Form Guide
Back Me: Noble Jester is drawn well today and should be winning. Currently priced at 5.50 he will start shorter on the day. Jockey Timothy Bell should be able to find a nice position from barrier 2 and enter the race at the right time. He won last start over the same distance so expect a repeat performance.
Don’t Back Me: Freton’s last start the saddle shifted causing him to go forward. The saddle slipped back in and it proved to be lucky going on to win the race. Stepping up in distance , however is drawn in the car park (Barrier 18). Although the jockey is claiming 2kgs, don’t expect Freton to be winning Saturday.
Big Danger: Markout has been racing very well in it’s last 5 starts, only missing a placing once after a tough run in it’s last start. Drawn wide in barrier 19 he will go back in the field. The speed of the race will be the determining factor on Saturday. If there is plenty of speed up front he will be storming home over the top late, however if there is no speed Chris Munce will be posted wide on a long sustained run.
Roughie: Without Reproach is has been staying on in his races. Having his 3rd run from a spell and has a handy 3rd up record (4:1,1,0) From Barrier one he will be with the leaders and may kick away being hard to chase down.

Race Five: Yalumba (bm75) 1350m Form Guide
Back Me: Ervbefel was given no chance of winning last start after going back in a slowly run race but was still able to make up a little ground against a very good field. Finds a much easier race here and by race time the outside fence may be the place to be and at great odds will run well.
Don’t Back Me: Miss Bradbury has only won once over the distance from 11 attempts and is drawn wide in barrier 15. Although she will be running on late, carrying 57kgs will not help her cause on Saturday.
Big Danger: Diet is unbeaten over this course and distance. The concern however is his form of late which could be put down to not performing on wet tracks. Larry Cassidy has ridden 3 of his wins and could be adding a fourth to this tally on Saturday.
Roughie: Lord Lion Heart has a very good career record despite most of those runs being in weaker company. Shown he can handle the wet conditions and the wide barrier isn’t likely to have as big of an affect with the current conditions. Looks great value.

Back Me: Love For Ransom was very unlucky last start being held up with plenty to offer. With a clear run this 3yo filly will go close.
Don’t Back Me: Bound To Blush will ping out to an early lead and be in the race for a long way, however expect her to be run down in the closing stages.
Big Danger: Classics is second up and has a great record second up (4:2,1,0) Last start she only finished 1L from detours over 1200m so the extra distance will benefit.
Roughie: City Of Song is drawn wide so this would suggest the price. Jumping akwardly last time and finishing 1L from detours you can expect another decent performance on Saturday.

Back Me: Voila Ici has to carry 60kgs and is drawn wide which may cause some drifting in betting, He will go forward and should prove hard to run down.
Don’t Back Me: Planetarium looks to benefit from the step up in distance however will be too outclassed in this.
Big Danger: High Kin is a kiwi raider coming over for this. She’s out of High Chaparral so will be getting the distance and could be running down voila ici late.
Roughie: Za Magic comes in well only carrying 54kgs and can run a cheeky race on the speed.

Back Me: Conservatorium is drawn well for this. He should get a nice sit just behind the leaders and come into the race at the right time. The one to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Dances On Stars has had some tough runs this campaign running on strongly out wide. Finally drawing inside could be a disadvantage on obtaining a clear run.
Big Danger: Celtic Dancer will be going forward and if he gets a soft lead he will be too hard to run down.
Roughie: Doubtful Jack has been running on well in his previous races. Carrying 54kgs on Saturday he is a good each way chance.

Back Me: Lukes Luck comes in well here with the 2kg claim of it’s back. Having his fourth run this spell he should be fit and ready to win.
Don’t Back Me: Ferment is drawn wide and carries the most weight. Second up on Saturday and has not won doing so. Won’t be winning this.
Big Danger: Hold Me Tight was only beaten 1.9L in a very good form race last start and being lightly raced should be able to improve from that run. Finds an easier task here and the late rider change seeing Chris Munce take the reins wont hurt.
Roughie: My Shabella was well beaten in the Queensland Guineas last start but that was a tough task. Has won three of her last five starts which is a great record and is proven in the heavy going. At the odds she looks a good each way bet.
