1. Daumier (11)

  • Record: 4: 2-0-1
  • Golden Slipper Finish: 4th
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: A & S Freedman
  • Jockey: Mark Zahra
  • Odds: $9.00

The Blue Diamond winner was beaten just over four lengths in the Golden Slipper and battled on well right through the line. It was his first go on the heavy track and he handled it okay and it looks likely he will get another chance on Saturday with rain forecast.

2. Shalatin (1)

  • Record: 4: 0-1-1
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 2: 0-1-1
  • Trainer: Joe Pride
  • Jockey: Nash Rawiller
  • Odds: $23

Well beaten in the Silver Slipper behind Best Of Bordeaux and then placed in the Group 2 Todman Stakes behind Sejarden. Has a trial win on the heavy 8 in between runs but would need to improve to be a winning chance.

3. Let’srollthedice (7)

  • Record: 2: 2-0-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Danny O’Brien
  • Jockey: Damien Lane
  • Odds: $9

Unbeaten son of Dundeel who has won his two starts by a combined 5.25 lengths including the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce at Flemington last start. He is a horse with plenty of natural ability and his breeding suggests he will only be better the further he goes.

4. Counttheheadlights (13)

  • Record: 3: 1-0-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Maher & Eustace
  • Jockey: Jamie Kah
  • Odds: $23

Was beaten just 2.65 lengths in the Group 1 Blue Diamond at Caulfield and the Maher and Eustace team decided to bypass the Golden Slipper in favour of this race. The son of I Am Invincible has trial in between runs and the 1400m will suit.

5. Milane (3)

  • Record: 1: 1-0-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Peter Moody
  • Jockey: Luke Nolen
  • Odds: $26

Peter Moody has thrown this colt in the deep end after just the one career start so you know he has an opinion of the young horse. He won a Listed race on debut down the Flemington straight and although this is a big ask from a second starter, he has drawn to get a lovely run in transit from barrier three.

6. Man In The Mirror (2)

  • Record: 3: 1-1-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 1: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Annabel Neasham
  • Jockey: High Bowman
  • Odds: $21

Was no match for them in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes first up at Randwick but showed he has some class when runner up in the Sires Produce behind Let’srollthedice at headquarters. Not sure if that is the right form but wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to show improvement under the world’s best trainer.

7. Magic (8)

  • Record: 2: 0-1-1
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes
  • Jockey: William Pike
  • Odds: $11

Placed in both starts so far, beaten by half a length in both the Silver Slipper and Pago Pago at Rosehill. Both those runs were full of merit and he can take considerable improvement out of both those runs. One that appeals at good each way odds.

8. Warby (10)

  • Record: 1: 0-1-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 0: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Maher & Eustace
  • Jockey: John Allen
  • Odds: $16

Another that is only having his second career start having placed behind Queen Of The Ball in the Group 3 Black Opal in Canberra on debut. That was a really good performance considering he was having his first start and expect a sharp improvement.

9. Wealthy Investor (9)

  • Record: 4: 0-0-2
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 1: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Damien Lane
  • Jockey: Josh Parr
  • Odds: $91

Was not beaten far in the Wyong Magic Millions behind Soaring Ambition but has failed to recapture that form since. Well beaten in the Pago Pago and would need to improve to be any chance. There has been some early support in betting though.

10. Showcourt (5)

  • Record: 2: 0-0-1
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 1: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Chris Waller
  • Jockey: James McDonald
  • Odds: $8

Had no luck when cramped for room at a vital stage in the Group 2 Todman Stakes last start behind Sejardan and would have finished a lot closer than two lengths. Won a trial with ease on the heavy track in between runs and he has been smashed since the market opened. The one to beat.

11. Brosnan (4)

  • Record: 2: 0-0-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: DNR
  • Track: 1: 0-0-0
  • Trainer: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou
  • Jockey: Tim Clark
  • Odds: $31

Yet to place in two career starts but was beaten just over a length in the Group 2 Sires’ Produce behind Let’srollthedice last start. Would need to improve but is not the roughest.

12. Fireburn (6)

  • Record: 5: 4-0-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: 1st
  • Track: 2: 2-0-0
  • Trainer: Gary Portelli
  • Jockey: Brenton Avdulla
  • Odds: $2.50

Won for the fourth time in five starts when winning the Group 1 Golden Slipper last start on a heavy 9. She was benefitted by a 10 out of 10 ride by Brenton Avdulla but she showed an excellent turn of foot when asked. History has proven that this is a tough ask to back up having peaked on the heavy track two weeks ago but she may be a very, very good young filly.

13. She’s Extreme (12)

  • Record: 4: 1-1-0
  • Golden Slipper Finish: 7th
  • Track: 1: 0-1-0
  • Trainer: Anthony Cummings
  • Jockey: Tommy Berry
  • Odds: $9.00

She’s Extreme finished second behind Fireburn in the Sweet Embrace before winning the Magic Night Stakes impressively at Rosehill. Brett Prebble’s ride on her in the Golden Slipper was not his best but she picked back up after behind flattened and found the line nicely. Tommy Berry rode her in the Magic Night win and regains the ride. One of the leading chances with some luck from the awkward draw.
