Dunaden has been added to the field for the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on December 8.
Mikel Delzangles’ seven-year-old won the 12-furlong event in 2011 before finishing only fifth behind Red Cadeaux in last year’s renewal.

The pair recently clashed in the Melbourne Cup with Red Cadeaux claiming second while Dunaden was only 11th, although Delzangles’ charge posted an excellent fifth in the Japan Cup last Sunday.
Winner of the 2011 Melbourne Cup, Dunaden’s place in the Vase line-up was confirmed after local runner Autumn Gold was scratched by trainer Sean Woods.
William Nader, executive director of racing at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, welcomed Dunaden’s call-up.
“Given the news about Autumn Gold, we are delighted to be able to add a horse of the quality of Dunaden to the Hong Kong Vase,” he said.
“Dunaden is a three-time Group One winner, an international star and a past winner of the Vase, so it is great that he now has an opportunity to come back and try to reclaim his crown – his participation further raises the standard of an already high-class Hong Kong International Races day.”
