Heathcote, Orman partnership to flourish

Top apprentice James Orman will be riding more often for the Robert Heathcote stable after winning on Dream Choice at Doomben on Saturday.

Former Sydney galloper Dream Choice ($5.50) cemented the new association between Heathcote and Dynamic Syndications when he won the Hamilton Hotel Handicap.

Orman is leading the Brisbane senior jockeys’ premiership but had not ridden regularly for Heathcote until recently when he won on Privlaka at the Sunshine Coast two weeks ago.

Heathcote said he would split most of his rides for claiming apprentices between Orman, Bridget Grylls and Matt McGillivray.

“Jim is riding very well and he can still claim one-and-a-half kilos,” Heathcote said.

“I have only just started an association with Dynamic Syndications. They sent me a nice mare in Define and then this horse.

“If they have some more Redoute’s Choice (Dream Choice’s sire) horses who aren’t good enough for Sydney they can send them to me.”

As a younger horse, Dream Choice showed potential and ran an 1100m record at Scone but had been struggling under big weights in Sydney.

Trainer Desleigh Forster announced stakes-winning galloper Adebisi would be retired after he ran eighth behind Dream Choice.

Adebisi won 12 races and $881,000 in prize money.

A meeting this week will decide whether smart galloper Right Or Wrong has one more run this campaign after his easy win in the Mullins Lawyers Handicap.

“We are looking at some good races for him in the winter but we need another win to get his rating up so he can contest them. It is probably easier to do that now than in the winter,” trainer Lindsay Gough said.

Another Sydney galloper Anecdote ($4.40) is likely to stay in Queensland after winning.

Anecdote, who is raced by Jamie Walter’s Proven Thoroughbreds, was trained by Warwick Farm’s Joe Pride for the win but is set to stay in Brisbane with Eagle Farm mentor Steve O’Dea.
