Jockey Harry Coffey has been given the all-clear to partner Shockletz in the 2026 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington.
Coffey had been under an injury cloud for Tuesday’s ride after suffering a collarbone injury when Pondalowie fell during the Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
The jockey was transported to hospital for x-rays and assessment on a possible collarbone fracture before undergoing a procedure on Sunday.
Coffey was cleared by his surgeon along with Racing Victoria Chief Medical Officer Dr Ben Barresi to take his rides on Tuesday.
Besides Shockletz in the 2026 Melbourne Cup, Coffey has three earlier rides on the Melbourne Cup Day program along with three rides on the VRC Oaks Day program at Flemington on Thursday.
RV earlier on Thursday advised that all 24 acceptors for the 2026 Melbourne Cup had passed their final inspections on Monday and given the all-clear to start.
