Trainer Willie Mullins has visited Werribee to inspect Melbourne Cup runner-up Max Dynamite before returning home to Ireland.

Mullins said the gelding was a little stiff in his hind legs which was not unexpected given the tough nature of the race.

“He came through it blemish-free which is good,” Mullins said.

“He ate up three-quarters of his feed overnight which was also pleasing.

“We’re very happy with how he performed.”

He said he had loved his third Melbourne Cup experience, with Max Dynamite his best result after Simenon finished fourth in 2013.

“And we got a nice cheque to go with it too,” he said.

Mullins said he planned to come back for the 2016 Cup, hopefully with Max Dynamite again.
