Race 1 – 2:00pm – Earthlight @ Darley Handicap (1200m)
Kooled is hovering around even money at publish, I think he’ll be hard to beat.
The Frosted colt showed promise at the trials prior to debuting and only just missed at Canterbury in February.
He went to the paddock after finishing down the order in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce in March, and a recent Rosehill trial suggested that he is primed to strike.
Race 2 – 2:35pm – XXXX Handicap (1600m)
This looks to be a reasonably open contest and a horse like Maurice’s Medad has claims on winning at around the $7 mark.
Maurice’s Medad returned some lovely efforts through autumn, breaking his maiden at Hawkesbury and finishing second in the Fernhill Classic before ending his prep sixth in the Group 1 Champagne.
He finished at the tail of the field in a race at Randwick-Kensington when resuming, but I am confident that will have brought him right on.
Race 3 – 3:10pm – Precise Air Handicap (1900m)
Austrata can return to winning form at Gosford on Wednesday.
The Australia gelding filled the minors behind Mr Brightside at Ladbrokes Park two starts back, and this is a drop in class for a credible sixth placing in BM78 company on a Saturday last time.
Fitter fourth-up and under James McDonald, he can fight out the finish.
Race 4 – 3:45pm – 1st Crop Calyx Foals Handicap (1200m)
Head On Up has a fitness edge over several key rivals in the fourth at Gosford on Wednesday and can return to winning form.
The Headwater mare finished second at each of her first two starts back this time and charged home to score here at Gosford last time.
This is a rise in class, but it also is the next obvious step.
Race 5 – 4:20pm – Vinery Handicap (1100m)
Park Avenue can make a winning return in the penultimate race at Gosford on Wednesday.
The Fastnet Rock gelding won each of his first two starts when debuting in May, including a Saturday race at Randwick, and he went to the paddock after filling the minors behind a couple of good ones over 1200m.
His two trials in the lead-up to this have been good and he will take plenty of beating once more.
Race 6 – 4:55pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)
Loch Lomond will make his return to the races in the last at Gosford and he looks well placed to win.
The Sacred Falls gelding made enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence during his debut prep, winning his first two starts and finishing a credible seventh in the Provincial Championships Final most notably.
He has had the benefit of a couple of trials in the lead-up to his return and this looks a lovely spring launchpad for him.
