Tempted ready to fire in the Run To The Rose 2025

Golden Slipper placegetter Tempted will look to make history when she lines up in Saturday’s Run To The Rose (1200m) for new trainer Ciaron Maher.

Only one filly, In Secret in 2022, has ever beaten the boys in the feature, and Tempted will have to overcome 11 colts and a gelding to join that honour roll. The race has attracted an elite field with five of the first seven home in this year’s Golden Slipper among the acceptors, with only winner Marhoona and fifth-placed Devil Night missing.

Maher says the daughter of Exceed And Excel is thriving since joining his stable. “She’s already got a pretty impressive record and the signs are very good from what I’ve seen. She spent most of her time out on the farm for Godolphin and she seems to be thriving down at Bong Bong,” Maher said.

Tempted raced six times at two for three wins, including toppling Marhoona in the Resiling Stakes (1200m). Now part of Godolphin’s public model, she will also be aiming to extend the global operation’s remarkable Run To The Rose record, with the Royal Blue carried to victory in five of the past six editions.

Maher has flagged Tempted as a filly with big-race potential. “She has got a lot of options. She could go south. She could stay here. You could raise the bar. Everything is on the table for her,” he said. The filly is even under consideration for Godolphin’s slot in The Everest.

Early markets have Tempted on the second line of betting at $5 alongside Wodeton, with San Domenico Stakes winner Raging Force the $3.10 favourite.
