1 Pariah (4) – Odds: $9.00

Looked the winner of the Blue Diamond when asked by Shinn but just had no answers for Catchy. That was his GF, but has come through that run well. Leading chance for sure.

Predicted Finishing Position: 7th
Rating: 3.5/5

2. Veranillo (11) – Odds: $41.00

IMO he is the second seed behind Trekking for the Slipper. Been racing okay, but he just lacks the killer punch at this level. I’ll be surprised if he wins.

Predicted Finishing Position: 11th
Rating: 1.5/5

3. Trapeze Artist (5) – Odds: $31

Flattering Black Opal win IMO. They walked in front and it was really suited for those near the speed, which he was. I’ll be surprised if he remains in front of Trekking.

Predicted Finishing Position: 15th
Rating: 0/5

4. Single Bullet (3) – Odds: $31

Really liked his win in the Pago Pago last Saturday. Toughed it out very strongly after being ridden upside down due to circumstances. Can see him getting a sweet trip off the pace and he will be strong late. Really warming to his chances.

Predicted Finishing Position: 5th
Rating: 4/5

5. Diamond Tathagata (7) – Odds: $71

Fought on strongly to win the Skyline. Form has been franked via Single Bullet. My worry with him is that there a few more nippy than him here. He looks a more Sires/Champagne horse.

Predicted Finishing Position: 14th
Rating: 1/5

6: Trekking (18) – Odds: $31

He’s the one for me at the price. I am amazed he was on the drift after his Black Opal effort. I thought the run was outstanding given the tempo was against him, he was first up off one soft trial and did plenty wrong. He’ll eat up the 1200m and is a winner at Rosehill. The negative is the wide gate.

Predicted Finishing Position: 3rd
Rating: 5/5

7. Invader (15) – Odds: $23

Comes through the Todman and I thought he did a really good job to get as close as he did to stablemate Gunnison. The likely wet track keeps him as an outside winning chance.

Predicted Finishing Position: 8th
Rating: 3/5

8. Menari (1) – Odds: $26

Tipped by many as the Slipper winner after a couple of starts, the second being an unlucky second behind Pariah. But his Todman run was very disappointing, albeit with excuses. Can’t have him here.

Predicted Finishing Position: 13th
Rating: 1.5/5

9. Catchy (8) – Odds: $5.00

Wasn’t sure what to make of the Blue Diamond form, but it was well and truly franked last weekend, and the manner in which she won, tells me she will love this assignment. Stable are low flying.

Predicted Finishing Position: 2nd
Rating: 5/5

10. Formality (2) – Odds: $26

Strong effort in the Blue Diamond, but was no match late for stablemate Catchy. Can she turn the tables? No, but a top ten chance for sure with the right run.

Predicted Finishing Position: 10th
Rating: 2.5/5

11. Tulip (10) – Odds: $9.50

The seven day back up hasn’t been successful in the past, but I was very impressed by her Magic Night win last Saturday. Looked to have upside left, and she was game in the Blue Diamond.

Predicted Finishing Position: 4th
Rating: 4/5

12. She Will Reign (13) – Odds: $6.00

I have been keen to lay her for this race for a while now, and I am sticking solid with that sentiment. Looked to have every chance to my eye in the Reisling. I think she is just a pure speed horse. Will, I repeat, will, struggle at 1200m.

Predicted Finishing Position: 12th
Rating: 1.5/5

13. Frolic  (17) – Odds: $13

Didn’t make much of her Inglis Classic win, but wowee what a performance in the Reisling. Yes she found the A ground, but that turn of foot was electric. She’ll love a brutal 1200m, and we know she will be strong late.

Predicted Finishing Position: 6th
Rating: 3.5/5

14: Teaspoon (14) – Odds: $41

I thought her effort in the Sweet Embrace against the bias was very good. Got out into the worst ground and just couldn’t pick up, but she was very strong late. Doubt she can win, but she will acquit herself very well.

Predicted Finishing Position: 9th
Rating: 2.5/5

15. Houtzen (16) – Odds: $4.40

Star speedster and IMO the one to beat. Blitzed them with sustained speed in the Magic Millions, then toyed with them at Eagle Farm with 63kg. She’ll lead them and give them something to think about. Will look the winner at some stage. Don’t worry about teh wide gate.

Predicted Finishing Position: 1st
Rating: 5/5

16. Madeenaty (9) – Odds: $81

Surprised they made the trip for the Slipper with this filly. 1000m sees her out I think, so a brutal 1200m? No thanks.

Predicted Finishing Position: 16th
Rating: 0/5

17E. Chauffeur (19) – Odds: $51

Well backed to win the Black Opal but didn’t really fire a shot despite having a nice sit off the pace. His saving grace is that he got very close to Houtzen in the Magic Millions. First Emergency.

Predicted Finishing Position: 17th
Rating: 0/5

18E. Showtime (6) – Odds: $101

Stuck on well in the Todman, but I think he will be better when he learns to relax. Sires/Champagne is his go. Second Emergency.

Predicted Finishing Position: 18th
Rating: 0/5

19E. The Mission (12) – Odds: $331

Ran an okay race in the Pago Pago last week, but clearly outclassed here. Third Emergency.

Predicted Finishing Position: 19th
Rating: 0/5
