Golden Slipper 2012 runner: Epaulette preview, tips and form

Epaulette will jump as the third favourite in Saturday’s Golden Slipper. Trained by Peter Snowden the son of Commands will be ridden by jockey ‘Kerrin McEvoy’. Epaulette is coming off a gallant second placed finish in the Group 2 Todman Stakes, before this run he won the Black Opal Stakes in impressive style. Darley racing will be hoping he can win and make it back to back victories in the Golden Slipper after Sepoy won the race last year.

Preview:

Epaulette is the best chance for Darley in the Golden Slipper

Trainer: Peter Snowden

Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy

Breeding: Commands x Accessories (GB)

Sale price: Retained by Darley

Prize money earned: $252,500

Form: 3 starts for 2 wins and 1 second.

1nd in the Group 2 Todman Stakes

1st in the Listed Black Opal Stakes

1st in the Australian Turf Club Handicap

Odds: $9

Tip: Epaulette has been a notable drifter in the market after opening at $7.50. Epaulette is coming off a second place finish in the Todman Stakes behind Pierro, they will both go into Saturday’s race with the same weight. Looking at the Todman Stakes run i feel Pierro has more upside heading in the Golden Slipper and think Epaulette is under the odds at $9. If your going to back him i would wait until Saturday as his odds should drift.
