Juvenile Group One winner Go Indy Go will make her much anticipated return in the Danehill Stakes in the absence of senior trainer Leon Macdonald.

While Macdonald will be hard pressed to watch the Flemington races from China where he is on holiday, co-trainer Andrew Gluyas will keep him informed as the Champagne Stakes winner takes on the colts and geldings in the Group Two race.

The pair opted to bypass the fillies in the Cap D’Antibes (1100m) on Saturday’s program believing she was more suited by the extra 100 metres of the Danehill.

“She is fit and ready to race and we decided the 1200 metres was more suitable,” Gluyas said.

“She is a very relaxed filly and easy to deal with but of course she has to make the step up as a three-year-old.

“It’s a different ball game and you don’t really know what you’ve got until you see them do it but she is where we want her.

“It’s also her first run down the straight course so that is another variable but I think she will handle it.”

Go Indy Go will be reunited with her Group One winning jockey Chad Schofield.

There were 23 nominations for the Danehill including Law and Nostradamus who are scheduled to run in the Group One Golden Rose in Sydney as long as the track improves from its slow rating.

Brazen Beau, runner-up to Almalad in the Group One J J Atkins, is also in the Danehill.

Go Indy Go is on a path to next month’s Thousand Guineas at Caulfield and will leave her Adelaide stable on Thursday.

“She is a good traveller. She proved that when she went to Sydney for the Champagne,” Gluyas said.

“She will leave around six o’ clock on Thursday evening and arrive at Caulfield in the early hours of the morning.”
