News:

Craig Newitt and Brad Rawiller have been suspended at Caulfield but will return in time for a Group One meeting next Saturday.

However Luke Currie had his day soured receiving an eight-meeting ban.

Currie had a winning double, guiding Don’t Tell Mamma to win the MRC Foundation Plate and the Group Three MRC Foundation Cup aboard Magnapal.

Stewards charged Currie with careless riding after shifting ground in the final 50m on Don’t Tell Mamma, resulting in Catch A Fire and Giulietta being crowded.

With seven rides at the Seymour meeting on Tuesday, Currie’s suspension will start at the conclusion of that meeting.

Newitt’s good record, a guilty plea and with stewards deeming the interference in the low range, he can return for the Group One Underwood Stakes meeting next Saturday, a seven-meeting suspension.

The jockey has been booked to ride the Chris Waller-trained pair of Amicus in the Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and Weary in the Underwood Stakes.

Both Newitt and Rawiller were outed for causing interference passing the 100m mark in the Fight Cancer Foundation Handicap and have elected to start their suspensions immediately.

Newitt rode Moonovermanhattan with Rawiller aboard Rugged Cross who was narrowly beaten in a photo finish by Good Value.

The chief sufferer of the interference was Jye McNeil aboard Schockermohle.

Rawiller, who is battling weight problems having ridden for just one month in the past three after injuring a knee and then an adductor muscle, was given a discount for pleading guilty, his good record and the interference being in the low range.

He can also return to ride at next Saturday’s meeting.
