A Spring Carnival contender from the Chris Waller stable has been ruled out of the whole carnival due to a chipped fetlock.
Imported galloper Qiji Phoenix was set to return in Saturday’s Run To The Rose but was scratched after being found to have a chip out of his fetlock late last week.
Qiji Phoenix won all three of his races in NZ before being moved to the Waller stable. He has had one start in Australia where he finished seventh in the G1 Sires Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm where he jumped on the fourth line of betting.
