Furious Stakes Form Guide

1. GUELPH – (10)

Beautifully bred mare who is certainly living up to her bloodlines, claiming four wins from seven stars including, at her most recent outings in April of this year, the G1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and G1 Champagne Stakes (1600m). She looked good in doing only what she had to, to win a Rosehill trail on the 20thAugust. Has drawn the second to widest gate but is a class filly and capable of running them down here.

Guelph

2. TWILIGH ROYALE – J Bowman (9)

Testa Rossa filly that had won three from her first five races including the G2 VRC Sires Produce (1400m) at Flemington in March. She returned to racing three weeks ago in the G2 Silver Shadow stakes and settled at the tail of the field in a race dominated by the leading pair. She’ll enjoy a more genuine tempo here and be finishing hard.

3. THUMP – J Cassidy (7)

Broke her maiden status in good style last start by claiming the G2 Silver Shadow Stakes first up from an eighteen week spell. She used her inside gate to hold the lead position on the fence and fought on well to hold off the challenge of Sweet Idea. Expect that she’ll cross again form seven but will need to have improved on the Silver Shadow to go back-to-back here.

4. KISS A ROSE – (1)

She won on debut for trainer Peter Moody back in December of last year in very good fashion. We then didn’t see the daughter of Sebring until three weeks ago when she stepped out in the G2 Quezette Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield and she picked up exactly where she left off. She circled the field and finished hard to arrive right on the line and claim victory over Metastatio. Has obvious ability and will have improved again on the first up run. (Also entered for the Danehill Stakes in Melbourne)

5. ROMANTIC MOON – P Robl (2)

Four starts for two wins, including the G3 Sweet Embrace Stakes, for this daughter of More Than Ready with both wins coming on good tracks. John O’Shea has given her two barrier trails (Robl onboard for both) as she prepares to return to racing for the first time since the Golden Slipper (where she finished twelfth of sixteen on a slow track.) Will jump and be handy from her good draw.

6. GREYTFILLY – N Berry (3)

Former QLD filly who is now under the care of Gai Waterhouse. She was due to make her return to racing in the Silver Shadow Stakes a fortnight but was scratched at the barrier. Previously she has enjoyed being ridden back in her races but now with Waterhouse and having drawn a good gate in three, expect she may settle a little closer to the speed here.

7. DREAM FORWARD – C Reith (11)

Broadmeadow trainer Darren Smith has been very patient with this daughter of Charge Forward and it is paying dividends. She debuted in the Wyong Magic Millions late last year finishing third behind Assail and then second to Calming Influence at Rosehill in January. We next saw her step out six weeks ago at a mid-week Canterbury meeting where she won a Restricted race over 1200m. Reith rode her at Canterbury where she sat on the speed and only did what she had to, to win. Big rise in class here though.

8. SHAHAD – B Shinn (6)

Went within a nose of winning the G2 Magic Night Stakes back in March and was honest in the Sires Produce behind Guelph at her next start before failing in the Champagne Stakes. That was the last time we’ve seen the daughter of Fastnet Rock race and she’s been prepared for her return to the track by her trainer Gai Waterhouse, with two winning barrier trails in the past month. Has ability on her day and judging by her trials, is ready to go.

9. BOUND FOR EARTH – N Hall (5)

Well bred Northern Meteor filly that has only had the three starts thus far. She’s indicated her ability however by winning a Canterbury Maiden on debut and going straight into Group company of the 2yo Classic and QLD Sires Produce where she finished fifth and third respectively. Can only imagine that that experience and a winter spell up in QLD would have seen her come on significantly from her first campaign. Has had two quite trials in the past three weeks and from five, will be afforded a nice run in transit.

10. TULLA TOUCH – (4)

Unbeaten Exceed and Excel filly who has claimed a Scone Maiden on debut, a BM 60 at Gosford and at her most recent start, a Restricted race at Warwick Farm. There’s no doubting the progression she’s made in her short racing career however the jump from a mid-week Warwick Farm to a Group 2 at Randwick, might be aiming too high.

11. FOREVER LOVED – T Clark (8)

The third of Gai Waterhouse’s representatives in this race, this filly is by High Chapparal and could not have done anything more on debut. She sat just off the speed in a 3yo Maiden at Canterbury before balancing up in the straight and extending nicely over the final furlong to win going away by 2 ¼. She’s in for a good career on that effort and there’s probably a nice race for her in the not too distant future however, I don’t think this race will be it just yet.

OVERVIEW

Expect Thump to come across after success when leading last start and she’ll be joined by Tulla Touch and Forever Loved from wider out. Romantic Moon gets a nice trial as does Bound For Earth and at $11.00 and $10.00 respectively, they both represent good eachway value. Guelph will take her time in the initial part of the race before being produced in the centre of the track to stake her claim. The speed should be genuine enough up front for here to display her electrifying finish. She did win over 1000 and 1100m (G3 Blue Diamond Prelude) at her first two runs back last prep.
