Overstatement could be given time to grow into her body despite her impressive win at Ipswich on Wednesday.

In a race which could be the midweek form pointer of the season, Overstatement ($9) scored by a nose to the equally impressive Ten Speed ($5).

The first two came from well back in the field along with third-placed Poetic Saga ($4).

Tegan Harrison, who rode Ten Speed, fired in a protest alleging interference at the top of the straight but after a lengthy hearing it was dismissed.

Winning trainer Gillian Heinrich has a big opinion of first starter Overstatement who had won two barrier trials coming into the race.

“I thought on her trials she would jump up on the pace and be somewhere near the lead,” Heinrich said.

“I got a bit worried when she was so far back but when Robbie (jockey Fradd) got her out in the open she really got home.

“I have a big opinion of her but you know me, I don’t like to rush them. She can tell me if she wants to race on this time and as you can see she is more legs than she is filly.”

International jockey Fradd scored on Heinrich’s star mare Shiraz Attack on Saturday and they are forming a lethal combination.

Ten Speed, who was also having her first start, won’t be a maiden for long and Harrison believed she should have won.

Meanwhile, jockey Ric McMahon completed a winning double when Country Command ($21) scored a lucky but deserved victory.

The runner-up, promising Toowoomba mare Girl Command, missed the start badly but rattled home to finish second.

Stable representative Paul St Vincent said Country Command had always shown promise and was a Saturday-class mare in the making.

McMahon scored earlier in the day on Danehill Native ($5.50) and he is back in favour with winning trainer Kelly Schweida who gave McMahon a “little holiday” from the stable earlier this year.
