Four time Melbourne Cup winning owner Dato’ Tan Chin Nam sadly passed away on Sunday.

Dato’ who had a long time friendship with the late Bart Cummings has sadly passed away aged 93.

A four time Melbourne Cup winning owner with Think Big (twice), Saintly and Viewed will live on in Australian racing with a Group Two event at Moonee Valley named in his honour.

Dato’ has a long list of good horses with arguably his best being Cox Plate winners So You Think and Saintly.

His Melbourne Cup winners – Think Big (twice) Saintly and Viewed – were all trained by his long-time friend, the late Bart Cummings who also prepared his dual Cox Plate winner So You Think.

Dato Tan’s investment in Australian racing includes his Think Big Stud in the NSW Southern Highlands.
