Flyer out to make her mark for Brisbane features in Bel Esprit Stakes 2025

Jason Warren is plotting a path to Queensland with Flyer, targeting the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on June 14, but the filly must first earn her stripes at Caulfield this Saturday.

Flyer is entered in three different races at Caulfield—the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m), a three-year-old handicap over 1200m, and a benchmark 78 for fillies and mares—while also holding a nomination at Rosehill. Warren confirmed the Caulfield three-year-old race, a heat of the Creswick Sprint Series, is the preferred option given the weight advantage and competition level.

“She needs to win to be eligible for the Dane Ripper,” Warren said. “That’s the aim and this race gives her the best chance to do that against her own age and with a manageable weight.”

Flyer impressed at Morphettville when finishing second in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes, bouncing back from a tough run at Moonee Valley where the heavy conditions didn’t suit. Warren explained he had taken a conservative approach after an underwhelming spring campaign, and the filly is now back on track.

“She’s a different horse now,” Warren said. “She needed good footing and we’re hoping for another solid track this weekend.”

If Flyer performs to expectations and secures a spot in the Dane Ripper, punters can anticipate her name among the top contenders. For those looking to place a bet, be sure to compare odds from leading betting sites in Australia.
