Eloping could resume in G2 2014 Furious Stakes Field

Peter Morgan is considering an interstate option for stakes-winning filly Eloping’s race return after the three-year-old pleased in a trial win at Cranbourne.

Eloping won four of her eight starts during her juvenile season which comprised races in three states.

The filly stepped out in an 800-metre heat at Cranbourne on Tuesday, impressing her co-trainer Morgan with her 1-1/4 length win.

Morgan said the Group Two Furious Stakes (1200m) for fillies at Randwick on September 6 is a first-up option.

“She might go there,” Morgan, who trains in partnership with Craig Widdison, said.

“Because she trialled so well, what we’ll do is go home and tomorrow we might map something out.

“We haven’t set anything for her yet because we wanted to find out whether she had come up. The way she trialled this morning, I think she’s pretty well right.”

The daughter of Choisir won the Blue Diamond Preview for fillies and the Group Three Royal Randwick Stakes last season while she finished seventh in the Golden Slipper.

Fellow stakes-winning filly Veuvelicious finished third in the same trial and trainer Brent Stanley said the daughter of Northern Meteor was coming along nicely.

“She’s on a staying preparation heading towards the Oaks,” Stanley said.
