Early morning inspection for 2017 Randwick Guineas day

Officials will inspect the Randwick track in the early hours of the morning to determine if the Randwick Guineas meeting goes ahead.

By 3pm on Friday, the track had received 41.8mm of rain since 6.30am, bringing the seven-day total to 148mm.

Racing NSW said the track had coped well and was rated a heavy 9 on Friday afternoon.

The radar indicates more showers which are expected to ease after 5am on Saturday.

Racing NSW stewards and Australian Turf Club track managers will inspect the track at 5.30am with two horses to gallop on the course proper.

A decision is expected by 6am to allow trainers to gallop horses if the meeting needs to be postponed with Monday the likely option.
