Dubai World Cup 2013 won by Animal Kingdom

Australia-bound American horse Animal Kingdom won the $US10 million ($A9.62 million) Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest race, here on Saturday.

The 2011 Kentucky Derby winner (11-2), trained by Graham Motion and ridden by Joel Rosario, beat home English raider Red Cadeaux by two lengths while another English-trained runner Planteur was third.

Australia’s Arrowfield Stud recently bought a major share in Animal Kingdom who will stand in the Hunter Valley in the spring.
