We’re off to Doomben on Saturday, August 19th for another quality nine-race metropolitan program.

I’ve dived head-first into the form of every galloper engaged, and you can find my complete Doomben Tips below.

BRC Membership 18-29 Years On Sale Now BM70 Handicap (1050m) – 11:43am

Apophis has recorded two wins from as many starts back from a break, and he looms as the one to beat again in the first at Doomben on Saturday.

The Super One gelding was far too good for them at the Sunny Coast on both occasions, and while this is harder, he does look more than up to it.

Suggested Bet: No. 9 Apophis

Bet Now: Doomben Race 1

Mount Franklin F&M BM75 Handicap (1350m) – 12:18pm

I’m happy to stick with Princess Tenko when she steps out in Brisbane this week.

Princess Tenko returned a winner up at Rockhampton back in June, and after only just missing in the Rockhampton Newmarket, she was last seen finishing midfield here at Doomben.

She’s hard fit and I’m confident she can bounce back.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Princess Tenko

Bet Now: Doomben Race 2

Country Music Raceday 9 September QTIS 3YO BM70 Handicap (1350m) – 12:53pm

Acres Away’s recent form has been nothing short of outstanding, and I am confident he can win again at Doomben on Saturday.

The Tom Smith-trained gelding stamped himself as one to follow by winning three of his first four career starts up in North Queensland, and he franked it with a lovely win at Eagle Farm earlier this month.

He’s another that steps out this week in peak order and he can go on with it!

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Acres Away

Bet Now: Doomben Race 3

Sky Racing No Metro Wins Handicap (1600m) – 1:28pm

Heleva Deel has striped fitter for two competitive runs since resuming, and one of these No Metro Wins races really does look the perfect city target for her.

The Dundeel mare finished third, beaten less than half a length at Toowoomba when fresh, and she was last seen only just missing at Eagle Farm.

Fitter third-up, I really can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish.

Suggested Bet: No. 5 Heleva Deel

Bet Now: Doomben Race 4

XXXX BM70 Handicap (2000m) – 2:03pm

This looks to be one of, if not the most open race on the program in Brisbane, and last-start winner Galifianakis has further claims at a nice price ($6 at publish).

Galifianakis ended his last prep with four impressive wins in succession, and he has improve with each of four back this time, culminating in his win here last time out.

He gets some relief in the weights under a claiming apprentice and is drawn to receive every chance again.

Suggested Bet: No. 1 Galifianakis

Bet Now: Doomben Race 5

Drinkwise Class 3 Plate (1200m) – 2:38pm

Rainbow Connection has opened and maintained pretty popular favouritism ahead of this one, and I agree with it all.

Rainbow Connection was a model of consistency last time in, striking at Eagle Farm most notably and finding form around some talented opposition.

He returned to finish third, beaten a little under two lengths by an impressive and fit Devastating a fortnight ago, and natural improvement will see him right into the finish of this contest.

Suggested Bet: No. 6 Rainbow Connection

Bet Now: Doomben Race 6

Ladbroke It! BM85 Handicap (1110m) – 3:17pm

More than happy to stick with the in-form Hatchet at Doomben on Saturday.

Hatchet won a couple of races not dissimilar to this one here at Doomben two and three starts back, and he was only denied by an impressive Black On Beauty at his latest.

The conditions of this race are right up his alley, and I think he’ll make every post a winner.

Suggested Bet: No. 10 Hatchet

Bet Now: Doomben Race 7

Spring Carnival On Sale Now Open Handicap (1350m) – 3:57pm

Another open race with a few winning chances, and I am going to have an each way play on Arentee.

Arentee has mixed his form a little this time, but his better efforts have been competitive, and he did win here at Doomben most notably.

He takes his place in peak order and should get every chance from an inside draw, and with just 54kgs in tow.

Suggested Bet: No. 8 Arentee

Bet Now: Doomben Race 8

Gallopers Sports Club C,G&E BM75 Handicap (1350m) – 4:33pm

Another wide-open race to end the program, and I am just going to have a small each way play on the second-up Subterranean.

Subterranean won in black type company early in his racing career, but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t returned to those heights during recent preps, and he’s been a bit frustrating.

He clearly needed his first run back at Eagle Farm a couple of weeks ago to dust off the cobwebs, but he boasts a competitive second-up record.

Suggested Bet: No. 13 Subterranean

Bet Now: Doomben Race 9
