News:
Silent Sedition has fought off a strong challenge from Hellbent to score her first Group 1 win in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Silent Sedition was sent out as a well backed $7 chance with Sportsbet where she went one better after dropping back in distance from the Coolmore Classic (1600m) where she ran second.
Twice runner up at G1 level Silent Sedition settled off the pace and hit the front early in the short Valley straight before fighting off Group 1 placed Hellbent to score a narrow victory.
Despite the massive effort from the 4YO mare and her trainer Andrew Noblet who was able to produced the daughter of War Chant to win despite dropping back in distance it was jockey Katelyn Mallyon who stole the show with the win bringing up her first Group 1 of her career.
Silent Sedition will now likely head to the Legacy Stakes (Queen Of The Turf Stakes).
