Gai Waterhouse trained More Joyous has won today’s feature race the Group 1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick racecourse. Jockey Nash Rawiller sat the wonder mare just off the speed during the race and was pulled to the centre of the track and sprinted too quick to win the $2million dollar race from Shoot Out and Yosei.
More Joyous was favoured by the drying track today at Randwick and proved to have too good of a sprint to take out the Doncaster Mile. More Joyous opened as the $7 favourite for the race during the week due to the amount of rain Sydney had this week but with the sunny weather over the last few days punters stepped in and continued to back her into the final quote of $3.70.
Shoot Out finished strongly to grab second on the line from the much improved Yosei who cut through on the inside to save lengths and it looked like Michelle Payne may have stolen the race with the great ride but it wasn’t the case and she wasn’t able to hold of the final challenge of More Joyous and Shoot Out.
More Joyous is likely to have silenced her critiques with today’s win.
