Darren Weir, Luke Oliver both escape charges over positive swabs

Trainers Darren Weir and Luke Oliver will not face charges over positive swabs to ibuprofen.

The Weir-trained Lidari returned a positive to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ibuprofen after finishing 12th in the Peter Young Stakes at Caulfield in February.

The Oliver-trained Cosmic Lights returned a positive after his first-up third at Bendigo on March 1.

A Racing Victoria stewards release said in deciding not to charge Weir, they took into account he had proactively undertaken elective tests on Lidari before the Caulfield race.

In Oliver’s case, stewards said the trainer also had undertaken an elective test on Cosmic Lights before he ran at Bendigo which had tested clear of ibuprofen.
