Scone will host their only feature New South Wales Saturday meeting for the year this weekend were the feature race of the day is the Dark Jewel Classic.
Weather is forecast to be perfect for Scone’s biggest race meeting of the year and it should provide all runners an equal chance in some very competitive fields throughout the day.

Race One: Cressfield (bm75) 2200m Form Guide
Back Me: Instrumentalist was super impressive last start when hitting the line hard to win despite missing the jump. Start before that he ran fourth in a good form race and gets into the weights well here.
Don’t Back Me: Mulaqen has been given 60kg and despite being one of the classiest runners of the race is very poorly weighted.
Big Danger: Our Girl Charlize has found a much easier race here and should be very competitive.
Roughie:Kinetics has had 61 race starts but i thought his run last start showed that he should be in the winners stall again soon and represents good value.

Race Two: Kia Ora Sprint (bm75) 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Slippery Moss has had two barrier trials to help him race well first up. Loves the distance and drops in weight from his last start against a better field.
Don’t Back Me: Fireball won well last start but goes up 6kg on that run which is a big task.
Big Danger: Agent is very competitive over the distance and has been second at his past two starts, the only concern is the wide barrier which is why he isn’t my on top selection.
Roughie: Oh My Papa always races well first up and enjoys the distance and the track. Gets in very well with the weights and the claim.

Race Three: Coolmore Woodlands Stakes 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Fairyland went to the lead on debut and wasn’t disgraced late in a very good race at Rosehill. Will go forward again here which suits the Scone track and should improve from that run.
Don’t Back Me: Mamwaazel was gapped in a much tougher race last start and i don’t think thats good for a 2yo and is a risk at the odds on Saturday.
Big Danger: Northern Glory won impressively on debut before racing well in a good race, looks the biggest danger in the race and will go close.
Roughie: Tweet was sent out as a short priced favourite last start but was a bit disappointing. She is worth another chance and represents good value.

Race Four: Arrowfield Denise’s Joy Stakes 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: Diamond Earth is a very good galloper and has won at the track before. Loves the distance and gets in well in the weights and will be tough to beat.
Don’t Back Me: She’s A Stalker has had four starts over the distance without a win and this is a very good field. At the odds she is a risk.
Big Danger: No Looking Back is the class runner of the race but will have to carry the top weight and will be jumping from a wide barrier but will still be hard to beat.
Roughie: Centrepet loves the distance and despite never winning first up i think she has a great chance in this race and looks a good each way bet.

Race Five: Yarraman Park-luskin Star Stks 1300m Form Guide
Back Me: Fontelina is yet to win this preparation but ran Pierro to 1.4L two starts ago in WFA conditions meaning he drops in weight from that run. Put a line through last start in the heavy going. Should be hard to beat here.
Don’t Back Me: Decision Time is a talented galloper although with 60.5kg and from barrier 10 this looks a very tough task.
Big Danger: Riva De Lago’s run last start was huge and from barrier three will get a good run in transit. If he can get some luck in the straight he looks very hard to beat.
Roughie: Bereft got back last start before making good ground late. Looks like there will be some speed in this race and could finish over the top of them at odds.

Race Six: Darley Dark Jewel Classic 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: New Beginning has been unlucky his past two runs were he should have finished much closer. Drops in weight and will be hitting the line strongly late.
Don’t Back Me: City Of Song has won her last two races but this is a much tougher task and i think she is under the odds in comparison to other runners in the race.
Big Danger: Shannara is coming out of two very good races the last of which she should have finished much closer but was held up. Has won at the track and looks a big danger.
Roughie: Soft Sand has been disappointing in her three runs this preparation but at her best she is right in this race and should be included in multiples.

Race Seven: Inglis 3yo Guineas 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: Hirad should have won at Flemington last start and should hopefully settle better on Saturday. If Tim Clark can settle him he should head back get a good run and finish strongly over the top of them.
Don’t Back Me: Ashokan ran third in a decent race last start although i think this field is better than that and may be under the odds.
Big Danger: Missy Cummings is yet to lose from three starts and she can certainly make that four from four on Saturday.
Roughie: Flying Snitzel hasn’t lived up to her Flemington win at her last two starts although if she can she will be right in the finish.

Race Eight: Prydes Easifeed Ortensia Stks 1100m Form Guide
Back Me: I Get Around steps up in class but drops 5kg from his last run which was very good. He has had two third up runs for two wins and can definitely make that three from three on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Ortensia will be running in her own race but with 62kg and two poor runs this preparation she is likely to start under the odds.
Big Danger: Emotional Circus hit the line strongly last start and is a winner at the track. Likely to go back and is the horse that can finish over the top of them.
Roughie: Mic Mac hasn’t raced in over a year after a good run at Randwick behind Temple Of Boom when found lame. If he has returned sound he is right in this race.

Best Bet: Fontelina looks suited perfectly in this race and will be much better back on the top of the ground i expect him to be winning on Saturday.
Next Best: Instrumentalist looks to be a very talented runner and gets a good weight relief from the two dangers in the race.
Best Roughie: Fairyland ran very well on debut and has been allowed time to mature since then. Im expecting a good show at big odds.
