A field of eight would suit champion mare Winx perfectly as she strives to win an unprecedented fourth Cox Plate, trainer Chris Waller says.
Amid talk of a field of seven or eight for Saturday’s Cox Plate, Waller expects a few others may jump in to make up the numbers.
“A field of eight would be perfect for us because it means less horses get in her way,” Waller said.
He did not want too small a field either.
“The more pressure the better. That’s when Winx performs best.”
Winx heads the Cox Plate odds at $1.20.
